Adolescent Counselling
Adolescent gynecological counselling in Ayurveda focuses on guiding teenage girls through the physiological and psychological changes of puberty and menarche using holistic, natural approaches. This counseling aims to promote reproductive health, prevent menstrual disorders, and prepare the adolescent for healthy womanhood
and future fertility. It emphasizes a comprehensive and nurturing approach to support girls during
puberty and menarche, ensuring smooth physical and emotional development.
This counseling includes:
Understanding Menarche and Puberty:

Menarche is recognized as a vital transition marking the onset of reproductive capacity. Ayurveda refers to this stage as "Pallava" symbolizing the flowering of the girl into womanhood. Proper care at this time helps the
body attain balance and prepares it for reproductive health.
Holistic Assessment:
Each adolescent girl is assessed based on her unique body constitution (dosha)—Vata, Pitta, or Kapha. Counseling includes diet, lifestyle, and behavioral advice tailored to individual doshic needs to maintain hormonal
balance and overall wellness.

Dietary Guidance:
Nutritious, dosha-balancing foods are recommended to support developing reproductive organs and hormonal regulation. Emphasis is placed on easily digestible, wholesome meals with seasonal and local herbs that enhance
vitality and balance.
Lifestyle and Behavioral Recommendations:
Advice on sleep, physical activity, stress management, and hygiene is provided to foster mental and emotional well-being. Encouraging positive habits supports natural growth and helps prevent menstrual irregularities.
Menstrual Health Education:
Girls are educated on the normal menstrual cycle, hygiene practices, and early identification of common issues such as dysmenorrhea, irregular periods, or excessive bleeding. This empowers them to seek timely Ayurvedic
interventions if needed.
Preventive and Supportive Therapies:
Ayurvedic internal medicines and external therapies such as herbal decoctions, oil massages, and specific procedural treatments (like local applications or medicated vaginal therapies) may be advised to regulate
menstruation, reduce discomfort, and enhance reproductive system health.
Psychological Support and Counseling:
Acknowledging the emotional impact of puberty and menstruation, counselling addresses anxiety, mood changes, and social challenges, reinforcing a confident and balanced outlook.
Preparation for Future Fertility:
Early intervention in adolescence lays a foundation for reproductive health, fertility enhancement, and prevention of gynecological disorders in adulthood.
